The City’s Strategic Community Plan 2020 - 2030 outlines the following outcomes under the goal of ‘Community’:
- Foster and strengthen community spirit
- Improve community wellbeing
- Community facilities meet community needs
- An inclusive and engaged community
The Community Development Strategy 2021 – 2026 explains the City’s approach to community development. This comprises identifying the most important community issues via data analysis, identifying the good practice response via a review of experiences in similar communities and identifying the City’s role in the response. The responses include:
- Advocate at all levels for change
- Coordination of external partnerships
- Capacity building via grants and training
- Contracting organisations to deliver services
- Take the lead in service delivery
