Spring into Armadale and experience the rich tapestry of culture, arts, food, music and people the region has to offer between 1 August and 30 November.
The Spring into Armadale Festival is returning with a vibrant and diverse calendar of over 60 unique events.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said that after the success of last year’s Spring into Armadale Festival, the City has once again been working with community groups, tourism and small businesses to bring together an exciting festival of events to promote the Armadale region.
“The festival will showcase Armadale as the place to be, explore and experience throughout the upcoming months.
“There’s something for everyone with events catering for a multitude of interests including food, wine, markets, music, arts, trails and walks.”
New to the festival this year are two yoga retreats: ‘Sound Silence Stillness’ and a ‘Yoga and Cleanse Weekend Retreat’ both at Kookabura Yoga Centre in Bedfordale.
Yogis can experience the quiet, transformational practices of yoga and meditation in a sanctuary of peace and calm at Kookaburra Creek in the Armadale hills.
Environmental enthusiasts can join a guided tour by local ‘bush care’ groups. Visitors will also be able to enjoy more of Armadale’s eco-tourism with the expansion of the walking trails in the hills.
This year the Armadale Hills Open Studio Arts trail, where local artists open their private studios to the public for an intimate view of their creative process, has expanded to include an Indigenous art studio.
Some of the signature events for this year’s festival include the renowned Springtime Festival at Araluen Botanic Park, where visitors can see a spectacle of thousands of tulips set against the dramatic backdrop of Australian bush.
Art enthusiasts can be moved by thought provoking artworks when they step into the Outside the Frame Awards exhibition at the Armadale District Town Hall from 12 to 20 August.
The exhibition attracts a high calibre of works by students in years 11 and 12 from across Perth and will feature over 100 works in six categories: painting, drawing, prints, sculptures, digital media/photography and textiles.
Perth’s largest Scottish festival, the Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run will return with lots of Scottish fun on Sunday 10 September.
A Fashion Show on Sunday 5 November will feature creations by Western Australian designers worn by local Indigenous models. Tickets will be on sale from the City’s Armadale Visitor Centre.
“I encourage everyone of you to take the time to attend as many Spring into Armadale events and activities over the next three months. It’s a wonderful time to enjoy the beautiful place we live,” added Henry.
