The City of Armadale has partnered with Impact Seed, an innovative not for profit organisation, to bring to Armadale its first ever GivingBackathon event.
The GivingBackathon is Armadale’s take on a social innovation Hackathon.
Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the pilot event will run across two days on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 May in the Harrisdale Pavilion.
“A Hackathon is an event that aims to address issues of contemporary concern through a series of fast-paced and intense exercises.
“Teams will be given 11 hours to develop a prototype product, service or strategy.
The idea for the event was originally put forward by a local Armadale resident and business owner with a vision to provide residents with a space where they can be innovative and creative, to help solve some of their own community problems in Armadale.
The event will focus on Human Centred design thinking, putting community at the centre of everything.
“This is a great community learning opportunity for our residents.
“There will be plenty of mentors on hand so we encourage people of any skill level or background to join in,” said Mayor Zelones.
This is a free event, but places are limited. Book your free tickets online through the City’s website www.armadale.wa.gov.au/growingourcommunity.
