Tai Chi Demonstration

Tai Chi is a form of Chinese martial art, with its gentle and low impact movements making it a unique and popular exercise.

The Taoist Tai Chi Society of Australia is conducting this interactive demonstration to highlight the health benefits of Tai Chi.

Voice from the Graves
Saturday 22 April
St Mary’s in the Valley Anglican Church
River Road, Kelmscott

Visitors to the cemetery at St Mary’s Church can explore the history of Kelmscott and surrounding district’s.

As part of a small group you will be led between the graves whilst snippets of history, from the early days through to more recent times, are shared by the voices of women from the graves.

Three sessions are available:
Session 1: 10 – 10.35am
Session 2: 10.40 – 11.15am
Session 3: 11.20am – noon

Places are limited and bookings are essential. Payment for these sessions is a gold coin donation on the day.

Poetry Slam
Saturday 29 April, 2.30 – 4pm

Jull Street, Armadale

To celebrate the artistry and creativity of poetry, we are using the winning artworks from the 2016 Minnawarra Art Awards as our inspiration.
This event will feature both writing and performance of poetry. Perth poet Rose van Son will be on hand to guide participants through the writing process. Pick up a flyer from any of the City’s libraries, or download from library.armadale.wa.gov.au and use the selection of images to get your ideas flowing so you are ready to write on the day.

The Armadale Writers’ Group consists of a group of published authors, hobby writers and people keen to start the writing journey. The group meets weekly on Wednesday’s and work on all forms of fiction; prose, short stories, novels, and poetry.
