Site works will soon be underway for the new Piara Waters South Pavilion and Playing Field, bringing the second of nine shared use community facilities in the region to fruition.
The community and sporting facility is being constructed by the City of Armadale and is located on Tuberose Road, Piara Waters. The facility will include a playing field, pavilion for sports and community use, change rooms, playground and car parking.
The pavilion itself will feature multi-purpose function rooms, club room, kitchen / kiosk, alfresco area and step seating for spectators.
Funding for the $8 million facility includes $6.9 million from the City through Development Contribution Plan No.3, and the City was successful in securing a $500,000 grant from the Department of Sporting and Recreation through its Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund.
The WA Department of Education is also making a contribution to the playing field component of project, as this will be shared with the proposed adjoining primary school to the south.
Construction is currently scheduled to start by May/June 2017 and will take up to15 months to complete.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said the shared use arrangement between the City and the WA State Government would emulate the recently completed Harrisdale Pavilion and Playing Field.
“The partnership between the City and State Government provides an ideal solution to easing pressure on local sports fields and facilities,” he said.
“It’s a great outcome for residents as it will form part of an important education and community precinct to service the fast growing community.”
