The two growth regions in Perth’s south-east and south west are facing unprecedented residential and commercial growth. Over the next 20 years, an additional 105,000* people are expected to move into the Cities of Armadale and Cockburn. The continuing influx of people and business investment has put added pressure onto the existing road networks, creating regular traffic congestion through the main transport networks of Cockburn Central and Armadale Road.
“The strong community response to traffic congestion in the region is testament to why the State and Federal governments need to make a commitment to fixing this issue now, rather than waiting until the problem worsens,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP.
“Our communities are telling us loud and clear that this is an election issue for them. They need a solution now. Local candidates need to take notice and make a commitment to fixing the crippling traffic congestion, which will allow our region to continue to prosper,” said Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett.
