The Perth Hills Tourism Alliance (PHTA), a collaborative partnership between the City of Armadale, City of Swan, City of Kalamunda, Shire of Mundaring and Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, picked up a win at the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards.
The award evening was hosted on Saturday 9 November at Crown Perth, where the PHTA took home gold in the ‘Excellence in Local Government Award for Tourism’ category.
City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “We are delighted to see the PHTA recognised at the Tourism Awards, and have our beloved hills featured as a premier tourism destination. The Darling Scarp hosts a range of attractions, from the various nature walks, wildlife, scenery, plus food and beverage options for the entire family.
“Congratulations to the PHTA for this deserving award win, and all their hard work promoting tourism across the Darling Scarp.”
This award recognises the dedication of the collaborative hills councils as they work together to develop and expand tourism in the Perth Hills. The PHTA formed in early 2019 with a mission to promote the Darling Scarp as a welcoming tourist destination in WA.
Other award winners and placegetters were City of Armadale partners ‘The Hike Collective’ and ‘Off the Beaten Track WA’.
The PHTA recently unveiled their new website and visitor guide, at an event hosted at Araluen Botanical Gardens in the City of Armadale. The event served to celebrate the success and growth of the partnership.
