The City of Armadale 2024 FOCUS Photography competition awards were held at Armadale Library on Saturday 18 May 2024. The competition which is hosted by Birtwistle Local Studies Library aims to capture the present day historical reality whilst growing the photographic collection.

The 2024 competition received 206 entries, across the two categories of photograph and drone. This year’s theme was Spotlight on Hilbert and Haynes, aiming to capture the characteristics of the two suburbs, by showcasing their communities, facilities, environment, and continued development.

Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “The ninth year of the FOCUS Photography competition is a great opportunity to recognise both the talent of photographers and the unique stories they tell about the City.

“These photos will form part of our history and capture a moment in time where the suburbs of Hilbert and Haynes are rapidly changing from paddocks to houses and roads. It’s important to capture the changes during a period of enormous growth for the City of Armadale. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry and congratulations to those talented photographers for winning prizes.”
