The restrictions for barbeques, pizza ovens and smokers change depending on the time of the year and fuel type.
Sold fuel refers to the product used to fuel the fire and including wood, coals, synthetic char, wood pallets, heat beads etc.
Gas and electric barbeques, gas and electric pizza ovens and gas and electric smokers where the flame is encapsulated by the appliance can be used all year round.
Solid fuel barbeques, pizza ovens and smokers can only be used during the unrestricted and restricted burning periods (1 April to 30 November). They can not be used if there is a total fire ban or harvest and vehicle movement ban declared or when the fire danger rating is high or above.
Solid fuel barbeques, pizza ovens and smokers are not permitted to be used during the prohibited burning period – 1 December to 31 March.
At all times the area surrounding your cooking equipment should have a 5 metre clearance of flammable material with a water source nearby. Precautions should be taken to avoid nuisance smoke.
