Calling writers across Western Australia to enter the 2022 Armadale Writers’ Award.
Now in its sixth year, the Armadale Writers’ Award is a creative writing competition open to all adult writers living in Western Australia.
City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield says the award exists to support and foster a love of writing within the community.
“The Armadale Writers’ Award encourages aspiring writers to put pen to paper and share their story. The prizes provide an added incentive to push through any nerves or writer’s block,” said Mayor Butterfield.
Prizes for the award:
- First prize - $1,000
- Second prize - $750
- Third prize - $500
Stories must be original, not previously published in any format, and with a word count between 1,000 – 3,000 words. A panel of authors and librarians will judge entries based on the originality of themes, plot development, story structure, and the overall quality of writing.
Entry for this competition is online, and access to the entry form will only be available from 1 to 30 September 2022. Visit library.armadale.wa.gov.au/armadale-writers-award to access the entry form. Please read the full terms and conditions of entry to guarantee eligibility and formatting requirements.
Winners announced at a private award presentation on Friday 18 November, and the winning stories will be added to the library website on Monday 21 November 2022.
