On Friday night, the community celebrated an exciting and fresh body of works by some of the best emerging young artists at the Armadale District Hall. The Outside the Frame exhibition is available to view for free every day until Sunday, 14 August 2022, from 11am to 4pm at the Armadale District Hall.
The exhibition is the culmination of works for the Outside the Frame Art Awards featuring a body of thought-provoking works, sharing current trends and ideas from student artists in years 11 and 12 across Perth.
The awards were presented by Mayor Ruth Butterfield on Friday, 5 August.
“Outside the Frame was established as a platform to encourage and support developing young artists. The resulting exhibition features thought-provoking works, sharing current trends and ideas directly from the minds of our youth,” said Mayor Butterfield.
“Art has the power to challenge us and perhaps even prompt the viewer to consider different ways of seeing the world. The City recognises the power of art and continues its support of Arts programs and partnerships, and we’re really pleased to offer schools that participated in the Outside the Frame Awards, the opportunity to take part in workshops offered by artists from the prestigious Lester Prize.”
Local resident and Kalamunda Senior High School student, Evelyn Grummet, was awarded the Local Artist Award for her mixed media piece titled "The Last Glimpse". The judges said her artwork demonstrated a great use of technique, and a terrific awareness of marine biology and the terror facing our earth.
