The Cities of Armadale and Cockburn have welcomed WA Labor’s announcement today to bring forward the duplication of Armadale Road, and to fund $166million towards the construction of the Armadale Road Bridge.
Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said easing traffic congestion is the number one priority given feedback from our community. Something needs to be done to streamline traffic around the expanding Cockburn Central area.
“The Armadale Road Bridge is the critical second half of the Community Connect South project aimed at improving traffic flow between the Cities of Armadale and Cockburn,” he said.
“Bringing the duplication of Armadale Road forward and providing funding for the Armadale Road Bridge means our community will have access to vital infrastructure that saves them time and money sooner rather than later,” he said.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said the funding announcement reassures the communities of Armadale and Cockburn that their concerns are being acknowledged.
“Our cities continue to experience sizeable population growth and it is critical residents have efficient access to jobs and services,” said Mayor Zelones.
“It is clear the CCS campaign has struck a chord with local residents and community groups who have embraced the initiative in force.
“The official funding commitment from WA Labor is a huge step forward for the campaign and our residents,” he said.
