The City of Armadale is in the process of upgrading a number of playgrounds as part of the City’s ongoing Public Open Space Strategy.
Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said young families will soon be able to enjoy the exciting new play equipment currently being installed at Bernice Hargrave Reserve playground on the corner of Westfield Road and Grasmere Way, Kelmscott.
“The City’s goal is to build a creative, challenging and exciting play environment, with nature play and other opportunities for a wide range of children.
New bollard fencing to Westfield Road was completed in 2015 and the upgrade to the play space has commenced with an anticipated mid 2017 completion.
Works will include enhancing the existing timber forts and concrete tunnels, and creating an informal scooter track for younger children. Natural balance logs and steppers will be scattered throughout the play space – these natural elements will tie into the existing character of the reserve.
“Existing trees will be retained and the shade from these trees will continue to protect the new play space,” said Mayor Zelones.
Other parks to have playground facility upgrades this year include Kuhl Park in Camillo, Joe Saunders playground in Champion Lakes, Lions Park in Armadale and Patterson Park.
