The City of Armadale is inviting submissions from residents on the proposed differential rates and minimum payments being proposed for the 2017/18 financial year.
The 2017/18 year is a revaluation year for all properties rated on their Gross Rental Value (GRV). The revaluation is determined by the Valuer General and will apply for the next three years.
The City levies rates to construct and maintain facilities and infrastructure and deliver all of the services that our community requires.
Differential rates are proposed to be levied on all rateable land (other than rural). There are three rate groups proposed: vacant land, residential improved land, and improved land zoned for business purposes.
Applying differential rates allows the fairest share of costs. The types of properties have different cost implications for service delivery, and the proposed differential rates are reflective of those costs. A Statement of Rating Objects and Reasons explaining the proposed differential rates can be found on the City’s website www.armadale.wa.gov.au and is available for inspection at the Administration Centre or libraries during business hours.
While the proposed rate increase for 2017/18 is 2% due to the Valuer General’s revaluation, some properties will receive an increase greater than 2% and some will receive a rate decrease. The rate increase/decrease for individual properties will depend on their GRV increase/decrease on their previous valuation.
Ratepayers have until 4.45pm on Friday 23 June to make a written submission to the City on the proposed differential rates and minimum payments.
Submission can be emailed to info@armadale.wa.gov.au or forwarded to Locked Bag 2, Armadale 6992 or can be delivered to the Administration Centre at 7 Orchard Avenue, Armadale.
