The City of Armadale joined hundreds of regions across the nation in welcoming our newest citizens as part of the annual Australia Day celebrations.
A total of 129 people from 25 countries officially joined the Australian family in a special citizenship ceremony conducted in Memorial Park on Thursday 26 January.
“Australia Day is a special day for all our community to come together and celebrate what we love about the country we call home,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP.
“It’s a particularly momentous occasion for those choosing to become Australian citizens by pledging their commitment to embrace the responsibilities and privileges of Australian citizenship.
“Our community continues to grow very quickly, and our new residents come from all corners of the globe, bringing so much variety and interest to our local culture.”
Armadale remains one of Western Australia’s fastest growing local government areas and over the last five years 22,837 new residents have moved into our City.
Population projections for Armadale, based on our average daily growth figures* indicated the City’s population reached 90,000 on Friday 20 January, 2017.
