The City of Armadale is delighted to announce that submissions are now open for the 2025 Humans of Armadale.
Humans of Armadale is based on the original and famous Humans of New York. This is the third edition of Humans of Armadale (no affiliation with Humans of New York), where we share stories of our residents. Our editions in 2021 and 2023 provided glimpses into our community, with residents sharing their thoughts, hopes, dreams and more with us, in written and audio format.
For 2025, we are focusing on Community Volunteers. We want to shine a light on volunteers who reside or volunteer in the City of Armadale.
The City will select up to 25 people aged 16 and older to share their stories. The selected participants will be interviewed by Centre for Stories, who will then produce a short audio story and accompanying written transcript. Each selected participant will also have a professional photograph taken which will be shown on our website, at our launch and exhibition, and in the Humans of Armadale 2025 book.
Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: ‘Humans of Armadale is a great opportunity to recognise the strength of our community and highlight the fascinating individual stories our volunteers have. Our focus on volunteers gives us the chance to recognise those who actively give back to the community, often with little or no thanks, as we uncover their motivations as volunteers. We look forward to sharing these stories with you in our 2025 edition of Humans of Armadale”
Successful participants will be invited to a formal Book Launch in May 2025 during National Volunteer Week, which will be open to participants and their families, the people who nominated them, dignitaries and community members.
Submissions close 5.00pm on Friday 22 November 2024.
