Cycling fans out there looking for a cutting edge event, look no further, the City of Armadale is pleased to sponsor the 2021 Grand Fondo Ciclistica.
Heading into its fifteenth year, the event has grown from strength to strength with many cyclists across Perth making it one of their ride targets for the year.
Choose to cycle through vistas, orchards and rolling hills, sampling what Perth Hills Armadale has to offer, 2021 is set to be bigger and better with new riding routes and a new start location.
Catering for a variety of cyclists, there will be four distances on offer – 50km, 75km, 95km and 120km. From the flat and easy cycle through to the signature route which includes hills and undulations for the more competitive riders.
City of Armadale Mayor, Ruth Butterfield described the sponsorship as a great opportunity to demonstrate the City’s commitment to Health, Wellbeing and Tourism.
“The growing popularity of cycling is not surprising, particularly over the past 12 months where bike retailers reported a spike in sales due to COVID19 restrictions.
“We’re thrilled to be supporting the 2021 Ciclistica event, these types of events really showcase our spectacular scenery, promote tourism and support local businesses.
“This year the ride has a new start and finish location – the event ‘village’ at The Hills Emporio in Karragullen, which will provide the opportunity for cyclists, supporters and visitors to sample and purchase produce from local businesses.
“The City’s funds will go towards traffic management, fuel for safety vehicles, insurance permits and prizes,” said the Mayor.
Event Director, Ian Wee said, the City of Armadale Grand Fondo Ciclistica (CAGF) has achieved iconic status as one of the main recreational cycling events in this State.
“In its fifteenth year it continues to promote what the City offers by way of tourism location, scenic sights and routes for the developing to the established rider. This is an event for all and the market place environment that we are hosting at the Hills Emporio will also encourage families and friends to support their cyclists,” he said.
The 2021 City of Armadale Ciclistica will take place on Sunday 30 May, with the first riders setting off at 6am.
