The City of Armadale is hosting a series of BMX, skate and scooter workshops at Cross Park in Roleystone, and the Youth Activity Area in Armadale from August to December.
The workshops will provide young people with an opportunity to learn new skills, be active and have fun in an alcohol and drug-free environment.
Professional riders from Freestyle Now will provide skate, scooter and BMX demonstrations and coaching sessions.
The sessions will include information on how to run a successful skate, BMX and scooter competition. Interested participants will be invited to assist Freestyle Now in running competitions in coming weeks.
“The City has been working with the team from Freestyle Now for a few years now and have seen great results,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP.
“The professional riders and skateboarders are highly skilled at motivating, encouraging and mentoring participants. It is a great way to get some helpful tips from the professionals who have been competing for years.
“It is also a great opportunity for young people to be active in a supportive environment and meet new like-minded people that enjoy the same activities.
“There will be a major competition in October for the participants, so they can showcase what they have learnt through the program and also compete for a share of $600 worth of prizes,” he said.
