The City of Armadale’s annual art exhibition has attracted 77 of Perth’s up and coming young artists who will showcase their artwork between 12 and 20 August at the Armadale District Hall.
Year 11 and 12 students from seventeen high schools across the Perth metropolitan region will exhibit their artwork at the Outside the Frame Art Awards, one of Perth’s most thought provoking art exhibitions for emerging young artists.
The artworks, across seven categories – painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, digital media/photography and mixed media, will be on display during the exhibition.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the Outside the Frame Art Awards is a cultural asset to the Armadale community and fosters the emerging young talent in the region.
“The City has remained committed to celebrating the creative talents of the younger generation and providing a platform where they can communicate current thoughts and concerns to a wider audience.
This year the exhibition attracted entries from four local schools in our region: Carey Baptist College, Cecil Andrews Senior High School, John Wollaston Anglican Community School and Kelmscott Senior High School.
“I am pleased to see local schools are keen to showcase their student’s talent in the exhibition.
“I encourage everyone to come along and view the works of these incredibly talented young people and continue to support their achievements. There is bound to be something that will either inspire, move or speak to you in some way.”
Entrants will be in the running to win awards across each category, plus a local artist award and the Heron Park Smarter Choice Award for Excellence, and the school with the best collective works wins a $1000 cash prize.
The Outside the Frame Art Awards is open between 11am and 4pm and is part of the Spring into Armadale Festival.
