The City of Armadale welcomes Western Power’s new state-of-the art South Metro Depot – Boyli Mia to Forrestdale.
Located in the Forrestdale Business Park the impressive $123 million purpose built facility will deliver a range of services to meet the needs of the growing community and deliver safe, reliable and affordable energy.
Local Noongar and Ballardong Elders were consulted by Western Power for the naming of the depot – called Boyli Mia, meaning Power House and features Aboriginal artwork by Bradley Kickett and Buffie Corunna.
Mayor Ruth Butterfield attended the official launch of the new facility by the Energy Minister Hon. Bill Johnson last week, along with Jandakot MLA Yaz Mubarakai.
“The impressive multi-million energy hub will have a tremendous positive impact in Armadale as it accommodates for 850 employees and will lead the way on innovation, safety and energy management”, said Mayor Butterfield.
“This world-class facility will catalyse further investment in and around the Forrestdale Business Park and Crossroads Industrial estate, Armadale’s top employment and commercial hubs, generating more jobs and boosting the local economy of our rapidly growing population.”
“Strategically located in the centre of the metropolitan south east corridor and easily accessible via major transport road networks with a range of commercial, industrial and residential land available, Armadale’s economic development is looking bright”, Mayor Butterfield said.
