The City of Armadale will welcome two new Councillors and five returning Councillors following the Local Government elections on Saturday 17 October.
Elected councillors including Henry Zelones (River Ward) Grant Nixon (Jarrah Ward) Mark Geary (Neerigen Ward) Jim Stewart (Heron Ward), Michelle Silver (Lake Ward), Laurence Sargeson (Palomino Ward) and Kerry Busby (Minnawarra Ward) have been elected for a four year term, expiring in October 2019.
Councillors will be sworn in at a Council meeting on Monday 19 October.
Armadale CEO, Ray Tame thanked the Returning Officer, Mr Jeff Solliss and all candidates for the manner in which the election was conducted.
“There was good interest in the 2015 election with several wards strongly contested which is a healthy sign for our community.
“We now have our new team for the immediate future and I look forward to working together to meet the needs of the City’s growing community.
“I would like to thank retiring Councillors Melissa Northcott and Jeff Munn for their service and dedication to the City.
“Jeff Munn has served on Council for the last 34 years and I’d like to thank him for his many years of dedicated service,” he said.
A total of 19 candidates through seven wards contested the 2015 election over the City’s seven wards.
